Talent Management

Talent Management (TM or HRTM) is a relatively recent term used to refer to strategic HR programs primarily focused on increasing workforce productivity. Talent management programs can be contrasted to more administrative HR programs designed to support companies with the legal requirements and accounting processes related to employing people.

Both types of programs are important, and many HR processes support both strategic and administrative HR goals. However, the focus of the Pragmatics team is solely on strategic HR programmes whose goals are fundamentally to increase workforce productivity through improving employee effectiveness.

Senior executives and human resources professionals clearly understand that to effectively compete and grow their businesses they need to employ high-achieving workforces and are naturally concerned about the ability of their workforces to meet future plans.

Today, talent management is viewed as an inherent need driven by executive- and board-level priorities. Thus, companies are asking talent leaders to define and implement a holistic human capital management strategy to align the efforts of the workforce with the goals of the organisation.

These new corporate practices are changing the landscape of management and development from process-driven to purpose-driven. In an era of global expansion, technological commoditisation and a shrinking labour pool, it is even more critical to rely on workforce skills to drive competitive advantage, shareholder value and growth.

Human resource professionals have seized a more strategic function in their organisations. They are charged with addressing the challenges associated with planning, acquiring, aligning, developing, rewarding, collaborating, managing and analysing their workforces.

This requires the adoption of a single source of accurate and timely workforce information to better plan needs, manage costs and make informed strategic decisions. Pragmatics offer a team of TM Architects, Change Managers & Coaches to help you get the best from your team.

Skills Gap

Companies are seeking to better understand their overall organisational skill gaps in order to support future needs. Further, to get more productivity out of fewer resources, there is a growing trend toward multifunctional roles and shared services. Many Talent Managers & HR Professionals indicate the majority of their employees have complex multifunction roles, and this is driving a need for more real-time employee development and cross skilling.

Finding new ways to increase employee engagement also is on the rise as organisations seek to improve overall performance.

The following strategies are at the top of the list for ways Talent Managers use to boost employee motivation and engagement:

  Provide challenging work
Empower or make employees autonomous where job appropriate.
  Provide customised non-monetary recognition.
  Provide constant learning opportunities.

Many companies suffer from medioca or 'just enough' to stay safe performance from staff and would like to find ways to improve on this position.

As Talent Managers Pragmatics focus on improving performance through people. Motivated and focused individuals with the right skill set can, and do, achieve great things and after all whats the alternative?

We offer practical and pragmatic advisory services to help reduce staff attrition, improve moral, identify new talent or develop the skills of your current team to improve overall business performance.
